He Speaks

Have you ever had a friend that you speak to, but she remains completely silent? Probably not.

Even the most distant of interactions between people involves communication on both sides. Even when it’s small.  “How are you doing?” “ I’m great, thanks.”

Babies even find ways to communicate. Words are not yet formed within a newborn, but a baby will cry or giggle or smile to convey a message to a mother or father.

I used to talk to God in the only way that I knew how. It was one sided. Thank you for this, thank you for that, please can you do this, can you also forgive that. It never occurred to me for years in my Christian walk, that I was missing out on a real relationship. A relationship that not only involved  me talking, but also included me as a listener.

John 15:15 states that Jesus calls us friends.  We are HIS friends. So again I ask you this question. Have you ever spoken to someone that you refer to as friend that would only stare at you and not respond.. at all.. ever?

If God created us with a desire to be heard by giving us mouths and communication, but also gave us ears, then he also created us to listen. What good relationship doesn’t have communication? In fact, 70% of Americans identify communication as critical for a healthy marriage, according to rlcc.org.

If your relationship with the Lord feels dead, dying, or not great, might I suggest something?  Work on your communication with Him. Talk to Him. Listen to Him.
